The Ministry of Agriculture and Food will support the "150 Bulgarian Products for China 2026" initiative, organized by the Bulgarian-Chinese Chamber for Industrial Development (BCCID). The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Plamen Abrovsky stated this, during a working meeting with the Chairwoman of the Chamber, Desislava Doncheva.
Minister Abrovsky emphasized that the government's goal is to assist Bulgarian agricultural producers not only in manufacturing high-quality products but also in successfully finding markets for them. "The state must actively support the opening of new markets and the creation of export opportunities, because behind every successful export lie the hard work and income of Bulgarian farmers," the Minister of Agriculture added. He recalled that Bulgaria has already negotiated the export of a number of products to China. Twelve procedures have been finalized with the signing of the respective protocols and the bilateral approval of export certificates, with the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) serving as the competent national authority responsible for conducting and concluding these procedures.
During the meeting, Desislava Doncheva presented the concept, the implementation mechanism, and the expected outcomes of the initiative. According to her, it aims to provide a platform for Bulgarian producers to enter the Chinese market. The Chamber is assisting in the selection of up to 150 Bulgarian products, which will be presented to an established state-owned Chinese importer and long-standing commercial partner of the BCCID, with the aim of creating genuine export opportunities.
The initiative is open to Bulgarian manufacturers from various sectors—including food and beverages, cosmetics, machinery, furniture, and others—who are interested in expanding their operations internationally. The selected companies and products will be included in a special portfolio for Chinese importers and distributors. Subsequent steps will involve evaluation, sample requests, online business meetings, and partnership negotiations.
To participate in the initiative, producers must complete an online application form in English detailing their company and products, as well as submit a 60-second product video in English highlighting the key advantages of their items. The application deadline is September 30, 2026.
